As the publishing industry was being disrupted, Alexa and the other founders of BookCamp Toronto saw an opportunity to shake up the conversation around Canadian publishing, reading, technology and the future of books in the digital age.
Founded in 2009, BookCamp Toronto was the first event of it’s kind and has inspired the founding of BookCamps all over North America, bridging gaps and building lasting relationships between publishers, authors, book industry professionals, technology start-ups and the general reading public. As one of the Founders & Organizer Emeritis of BookCampTO, Alexa was involved in shaking up the conversation around Canadian publishing and the future of books in the digital age.
BookCampTO brought together writers, technologists, publishers, readers, editors, designers, booksellers, book buyers, printers, librarians in a 1-day unconference setting featuring speakers and collaborative sessions focused on brainstorming the future of the book and the publishing industry.
